Obituary for Mary Eileen Williams

Mary Eileen Williams (nee Phelan) formerly of Rutherford died peacefully on December 5, 2019 at the age of 87.

Mary is survived by her husband of 63 years Gerald (Jerry) Williams; her children, Diane Brundage & son-in-law Loren Smith, Thomas, Eileen & son-in-law Michael Bushelow, James, and Richard and daughter-in-law Melinda; her grandchildren, John & his wife Zrinka, Meghan and her husband Anthony, Elizabeth, Brian and his wife Rebekah, Nicholas, Shannon and Colleen; her great grandchildren, John, Andre and Maja. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Mary (nee Crompton) and Thomas Phelan, and son-in-law John Brundage.

Mary was on born November 25, 1932 in Brooklyn NY to Mary & Thomas Phelan. She was the eldest of six children. She graduated from Trenton State College in 1954 with a degree in English/History along with a teaching certification in elementary education. Mary married Jerry Williams on November 10, 1956 and they began their life together in Rutherford NJ, where they lived for 58 years, before moving Audubon PA in 2015. Mary began her teaching career in Paramus NJ, and subsequently taught 5th grade for many years in Nutley NJ until she retired in 1991. She was a member of the Rosary Society and Sunday mass reader at The Church of Saint Mary in Rutherford, NJ.
Mary’s hobbies included traveling, golf, flower arranging and swimming. Her passion was reading and spending her summers at Webster Lake in Franklin NH.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Avenue, Rutherford, NJ.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Liturgy will be held on Monday at 10:30 AM at The Church of St. Mary, 91 Home Avenue, Rutherford. Interment George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Paramus.
